yours, letters at sea · the app for iPhone and Android
If you no longer have the app, you can delete your Yours account here. Sign in with the same Apple or Google account you used in the app, then confirm.
What deletion does
Your sign-in, the email address we hold for you, and everything else that was only yours are deleted.
A message of yours that nobody has found or added to is deleted entirely, bottle and all.
Your words in any other bottle still in the water are erased — your messages and your additions alike. The bottle stays for the others who have a part in it, no longer linked to you.
Anything of yours that someone has kept stays with them, as it was when they kept it, no longer linked to you.
A bottle you kept goes back into the water. A bottle you found stays found, no longer linked to you, and its record keeps where the bottle was, not where you were.
A report you made, or one made about something you wrote, stays as a safety record, no longer linked to you.
Backups are kept for 14 days, so deleted data can remain in one for up to 14 days.
Server logs aren’t cleared by deletion. They hold connection addresses and the positions the app sent, until they’re overwritten — at low traffic, months.
This is permanent. You can also delete your account in the app, under menu → account.
